JULY '03 WINNER
Voted The Cat Connection's "Cat of the Month" by public opinion.

About the Winner
This is Cactus Jack. When he was a few months old, some boys got hold of him and repeatedly threw him into a bed of cactus. He was found, bleeding, near death, and full of cactus barbs over every inch of his body, including in his ears and in his mouth, by my friend's daughter. They rushed him to the vet. It took FOUR vets four hours to completely remove all the barbs from his body. They named him "Cactus Jack."

My friend told me about him, and knowing that I'm an animal lover and had rescued my four other cats, asked me if I'd consider taking a look at him and maybe giving him a home. I went with her to the vet's office to see him. They brought him out, groggy from the surgery and full of scabs and stitches. I took one look at him and knew he was my soul mate. I started to pet him and he rolled over on his back and let me rub his tummy. The vet kept him for two more days, and then I came to take him home to live with us. I decided to keep the name the vet had given him.

I am the only one he will let touch him. When I'm home, he's constantly with me. He sleeps on my chest or head, and when I'm on the computer, he's either on it with me! Or sitting quietly next to me. He is the most fabulous, loving, beautiful cat in the world.

He is an odd eyed white, and he lives with us in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. He also has his own webpage: www.mycatcactusjack.com

JULY '03 RUNNER UP
Voted The Cat Connection's Cat of the Month Runner Up by The Cat Connection staff.

About the Runner Up
Zoey is a very special cat. When she was only 2 weeks old her mom stopped taking care of her. So I had to bottle feed her until she was able to eat soft food. She goes to the beach with us about 2 hours from our house every weekend. She doesn't mind the ride she just takes a nap in her bed.  She is just the best cat!

Owner: Melanie Wilkins
Breed: Maine Coon
Age: 2 years

•The maximum file size we can accept is 1MB (about 600 x 600 pixels at 72dpi).
•The minimum file size we will accept is 200x200 pixels at 72 dpi (120k file size).

HOW IS THE WINNER DETERMINED?
Currently, the winner is determined by online voting. Voters can vote once for only one cat (that means you cannot vote 200 times for your cat, unless you use 200 different computers-so no cheating:). If the Internet crashes then an independent panel of judges will be asked to determine the winning photo. If your photo is chosen for publication, we will make an effort to notify you via the email address you used to submit your photo, by telephone or mail. We will need to obtain your information on where to send your prize. Cat of the Month winners will receive either a gift certificate for shopping at Cat Connection or our choice of a cool cat product.
