Keep Your Kitty Warm & Cozy this Winter!
Tips on keeping the heat in and the cold out!

Whether it's curling up by the fire, brewing hot apple cider, or bundling up in a soft cashmere sweater, cold weather comforts help us through brisk autumn days and cold winter nights. Throw in flu season, too many parties, and the extra work of holiday preparations and it's a wonder we make it through the winter at all. Just as we have learned how to manage our time, take precautions to stay warm, and prevent and treat colds and flu, similar care is needed to ensure the comfort and health of our pets, too.

DON'T FORGET!
Plan Ahead:
Holiday Boarding & Grooming is Filling Up Fast!

Why Should I Board My Cat?
It is important to remember that cats do not usually travel well. They usually do not enjoy it, nor do they adapt well to travel. Many people who try to take kitty along with them on their vacation end up spending most of their time searching for their escaped pet.

Leaving your cat with friends is just as unsatisfactory. Cats must go through an adjustment period in a new environment and this means they will not look upon your friend's house as "home" for quite awhile. Therefore, your cat may try to escape from the strange house at every opportunity or hide as a fear reaction. Most cat owners realize that it is not fair to impose this kind of responsibility on their friends, nor is it an ideal arrangement for their pets.

USEFUL INFORMATION!
Just Get in Already
Written by:
Christina Mehra, Staff Writer @ Vetcentric.com

Crash. Bang.

"Get back here, you!"

Sigh.

It sounds like World War III has broken out in your house.

The moment that your usually docile, laid-back feline friend spied you coming toward him with a carrier in hand, he suddenly turned into a hissing, scratching maniac.

Nursing your bleeding forearms, you take a deep breath and head toward the telltale glowing eyes, peeking out from the black abyss under the armchair, to try again.

Getting the cat into his carrier is the major hurdle in getting him to the veterinarian. In fact, many cat owners are often late to their appointments after losing a round (or two or three) with their pets. "That happens all the time," according to Lori Goodman, office manager at the Cat Care Clinic, Orange, Calif.
Beth Rasin of Middleburg, Va., a self-proclaimed "cat transport novice," has only had to load her kitty, Fin, into his carrier once—and once was enough.
