Is a regularly groomed pet a happier and healthier pet? At Cat Connection, we believe regular grooming is essential to your cat's overall health and well-being. Besides the eye-pleasing image of a freshly-groomed pet, professional groomers add an extra dimension of care that helps pet owners to maintain healthier pets. Regular combing and brushing will not only keep your cat's coat clean and healthy, it will stimulate the skin, allow the natural oils to circulate to the coat, and help to prevent hairballs. Loose hair being picked up by a cat's tongue and swallowed during bathing can accumulate in the stomach forming hairballs, which can be harmful to the gastrointestinal tract.

While providing grooming services, a professional groomer examines your cat from nose to tail and notes any suspect conditions such as lumps, bites, cuts, swelling, and sores that might require a visit to the veterinarian. Even the best owners sometimes miss the signs of health problems on their pets and most do not take their pets to the veterinarian until there is a problem. Isn't it great to have some helping hands with your pet care responsibilities? Groomers find health risks every day unknown to pet owners and can serve as an added form of preventative pet health care.

Proper nail cutting is also part of a regular grooming schedule. When nails are not cut regularly and correctly, they may become overgrown and prevent your cat from placing their full body weight down resulting in overall joint discomfort. Or in some instances, an overgrown nail will curl under and start growing into the pad, requiring treatment from a veterinarian.

Flea and tick control is also an added benefit of regular grooming. Groomers can be key in helping pet owners prevent infestations and their side effects. Not many pet owners realize that pests can bring along other problems like tapeworms and bacterial infections. When fleas are discovered, it is wise to work with your groomer to schedule a deflea grooming appointment while your home and yard are being treated.

And remember, maintenance brusing at home in between professional grooming appointments plays a crucial part in a regular grooming regime.
