And The Winners Are... March 2008 Cat Connection Winner About the Winner: "Kluane was rescued by the humane society when she was five weeks old. Due to a large amount of stray cats taken in by the shelter, Kluane and her siblings were scheduled for euthanasia. I hadn't been planning on adopting an animal when I stopped by the shelter. Kluane is a very interesting kitty cat. We joke that she's a miniature mountain lion. She can be very feisty and playful, but she also loves to snuggle at night under the blankets with us!! Her favorite toy, believe it or not, is any kind of drinking straw. She also loves her laser pointer and her little stuffed teddy bear. Her favorite part of the house is up on top of the kitchen cupboards. There's a couple feet clearance between the top of the cupboard and the ceiling and she loves to perch up there and watch everything. Sometimes we feel like we're being stalked by our own little mountain lion! When I walked into the 'cat room', what seemed like hundreds of cats started meowing and climbing the doors of their cages. I was instantly drawn to this sweet kitty looking at me with big blue eyes. What I liked about her was that in the midst of all this noise, she wasn't making a peep. Ten months later, she still rarely meows and is the most curious and playful kitten I have ever met." Congratulations Kluane! March 2008 Cat Connection Winner Owner: Kaitlin Banotai About the Winner: "When Beau was only about a year old, he was put up for adoption by his previous owners. A coworker of mine who did animal rescues asked me if I would like to adopt him. Although I lived in an apartment at the time and pets were not allowed, there was no way I could say no to him. Beau has the most wonderful, outgoing personality of any cat I have ever met. Whether we have a house full of people or its just the two of us, Beau always has to be right in the middle of everything and everyone, just wanting as much attention as he can get. He will play with any cat, dog, or other animal whether they're interested in playing with him or not. All in all, Beau just has the most wonderful temperament and is the absolute sweetest. He is the most spoiled cat around and we don't know what we would do without him! Although he's only a little over three years old, he's been a lucky guy considering all that he's been through. In the first year I had him; he escaped and went missing for a few days. He finally found his way back and apparently had gotten hit by a car, according to the vet. He made a full recovery only to suffer a urinary blockage the following winter, which progressed to the point where he had to have major surgery to basically save his life. Regardless of everything, he continues to be the most loving, curious guy, who thrives on being the center of attention. Beau's favorite types of toys are furry mice and fur balls that we are constantly trying to dig out from underneath the couch, stove or refrigerator because he tends to get carried away with chasing them! He doesn't really have a 'favorite' part of the house since he is pretty much 'king' so he goes anywhere and everywhere he pleases! However, he is constantly looking out the windows at the neighborhood outdoor cats because he would love more than anything to get out there and play with them. Unfortunately since he's already had one accident before, we can't let him outside to play with his friends. Beau loves to snuggle whenever my boyfriend and I are lounging on the couch, he always has to be right in between the two of us. Also when bedtime rolls around he loves falling asleep on our stomachs and purring very loudly. Every morning when I get ready for work, he sits in the bathroom sink and looks up at me as I blow dry my hair. He usually jumps out and follows me around after I'm finished with this exception of this day when I walked back in after I was about to leave and found him sound asleep in the sink."
