What is Bonito?

Bonito is a fish which swims in the waters of the Western Pacific Ocean. Bonito is a schooling fish which hails from the Tuna family. Since Bonito is a bony fish it is rarely eaten for its meat. Instead the dark, oily fish is carefully dried and shaved into very fine, intensely flavored flakes. The Japanese use these flakes to make a savory broth, while cats and dogs love the flakes just the way they are, right out of the container!

Cat-Man-Doo’s Patented Process

Cat-Man-Doo Inc. along with several other private manufacturers, have combined their talents to develop technology which extracts the oxygen from our containers and immediately seals them tightly.

This machine (pictured right) was developed and patented exclusively for Cat-Man-Doo Inc. Once the container has been hand-packed with only the best Bonito Flakes, it is then placed into one of the cup holders and sent through the patented MAP process. It is at this point that all of the oxygen is removed and a safety film is attached to prevent any future tampering. The container is then removed from the machine, inspected and packaged for shipment. No other Bonito Flakes on the market today is being packaged using this technology. This “stay-fresh” packaging allows Cat-Man-Doo Bonito Flakes to stay as fresh at home as the day they were packaged.
