And The Winners Are... March 2007 Cat Connection Winner Here is what the owner has to say about her incredible kitty, Little Honey. "Little Honey is a little angel. She is highly intelligent. I feel a special bond with Honey. We always know what each other is thinking. Honey has a way of knowing when people need some tender loving care and she will come sit on your lap and head bunt you. Honey does not like to be pet by new people unless she initiates it, but she loves to be around people. She can be very social and loves to be the center of attention. Her favorite toys are small furry mice, that she enjoys batting around, placing in her water bowl and sometimes skinning. Little Honey has 2 wonderful and beautiful sisters, Fluffer Nutter and Cali . She will alert us if her baby sisters are doing something they shouldn't be doing. Little Honey loves to sit in the sun and thinks she is a human. She has so much personality it's hard to describe. She sleeps with us and is always nearby and she even comes when she is called. Little Honey has several little sounds, each representing a different meaning. Such as a squeak when you call her, as if to say, "here I am". Congratulations Little Honey!March 2007 Cat Connection Winner Here is what the owner has to say about her wonderful kitties, Leuke and Mia. "Leuke and Mia have truly been life savers to me. In Feb 2006 I was diagnosed with leukemia and for the next 9 months I underwent Chemo and multiple surgeries. By November, finally I got to stay at home to recover. I had lost my previous 'cat family' in a divorce (I didn't want to split up the 5 cats. They were 9 years old, all from the same litter, and had always been together). I really missed my cats. While I had been in the hospital I thought when I got new kitties I was going to name them 'Leuke' and 'Mia' (put that together you have 'Leukemia'). The day after Thanksgiving I was lonely and really missed my cats. So, I went to all the local shelters looking for some new friends. As always there were lots of cats but after being at several shelters I hadn't met 'the one' that sparked that special feeling until I got to the last shelter. At the last shelter, I walked into the room and the first kitten that walked up to me was this big 5 month old black and white kitten. He started doing figure-eights around my legs and was purring the whole time. He was adorable, but I told him he was the first kitten I looked at in the room so give me chance to look at some others. He stayed with me the entire time and followed me around while I petted and held the other cats. Finally, I knelt down and said to him "let's take a look at what your name is" and moved the fur away from his collar. His name was Luke! Chills went through my body. I had found 'Leuke'. Together Leuke and I found a tiny 5 1/2 week old Snowshoe kitten in a corner of the room crying. We all bonded immediately. Leuke and Mia are now 9 months and 5 months old respectively. They are my perfect companions. They are with me constantly and follow me room to room. They wrestle, take turns chasing each other, bath one another, love to play (but it has to be the 3 of us together!), snuggle with me while we all watch TV together (they do watch TV-Animal Planet is their favorite), and sleep with me. They continuously make me smile and have been a big factor in my recovery. I am a physician and we all know it has been proven that there is nothing like 2 purring friends to improve your health."
