The Cat Connection Cats of the Month
December 2005 Photo Contest Winners Voted "Cat of the Month" by Web Poll Participants. Owner: Michelle Dyson Name: Phoebe Breed: Siamese Mix Age: 4 1/2 years old About the Winner: Phoebe was given to Michelle by someone who didn't want a houseful of kittens. When Phoebe was brought into her new home, she was actually given to Michelle a bit too early to be taken from her mother but needed to be rescued quickly as her living conditions worsened. Michelle slept on the couch with Phoebe who would sleep on her stomach so Michelle couldn't move or roll over what so ever. Phoebe would wake her up almost every 2 - 3 hours to be fed with a syringe. Phoebe has a blue heeler female sister, a red heeler female sister and a long hair domestic brother and a full blooded Siamese sister. Quite a big, loving family. Her winning picture was taken during the Hurricane Rita evacuation period. The Dyson Family had to load up the pets and run to Dallas where they stayed with relatives and this chair was on one of the bathroom. When Michelle walked into the bathroom to check on the cats she found her right there. Phoebe is quite the beauty. Her mom, Michelle, tells us that her favorite toys are anything with bells or some sort of noise maker in them. Phoebe could care less about things that dangle, but give her a crinkle ball and she is ready to play. Phoebe is a very energetic cat she loves to dart through the house when the moment hits her just right and she will run from room to room knocking things over. Once she's all burned out, she'll find a resting spot and will just roll over like a dog. Michelle tells us “It's so cute. She will just lay on her back and lift her head up as if she was doing a sit up and just look around to see who's watching her from time to time.” Phoebe loves to snuggle in between Michelle and her husband at bedtime. She will come find Michelle in the living room and jump up in her lap when she's ready for bed. Michelle will follow her to the bedroom and shortly after she gets into the bed, Phoebe will get on her own pillow in between the couple and purrs loudly until she finally passes out, but from time to time she will begin to snore. She loves to also come in between Michelle's reading time at night. If Phoebe sees Michelle in the bed with her reading light on, Phoebe will jump up onto her stomach and use her head to move the book or magazine out of the way because she wants to be loved on. Too sweet! Phoebe has two favorite spots in her house. Her first spot is a scratch box with cat nip tucked inside of it. She will roll and roll over that box then curl up on it and go to sleep for hours and wont move. Her other favorite spot would be the dog's bed. Michelle bought a new bed for their dog but Phoebe has taken over it and they usually find the dog in their bed. Michelle says “Phoebe has brought a lot of love and sunshine into our home with her characteristics and her personality she shows love and affection in her own special ways and we are truly blessed to have her.” Congratulations Phoebe!
