The Cat Connection Cats of the Month April 2005 Cat Connection Winner Voted "Cat of the Month" by The Cat Connection Shop Cats ![]() Owner: Kim Elliott Cat's Name: Mistah Moe Breed: American Shorthair Age: 7 years About the Winner: Mistah Moe has always been a special cat. When he was a kitten, he lost the use of his back legs for several months. He still got along great, chasing his brother around and doing everything a kitten would do, just a little bit slower. After several visits to the vet, they were told he would need to be put to sleep as there was not much they would be able to do. But Kim couldn't give up hope and did some research and found a wonderful retired vet that wanted to donate his skills of acupuncture to heal Moe's back legs. And after several treatments, a little physical therapy and a lot of TLC, Moe was back on all fours in no time. Kim tells us he has spent every day since then living life to the fullest. Mistah Moe is quite the fan of the outdoors as we can see and has even one the title of best mouse catcher on the block. Every year, he adds and drops a new habit. Until about 2 years old, he couldn't or wouldn't meow. Now, he meows only when there is something very exciting or important going on. When he was three, he would eat/destroy any piece of paper found on desks or the ground as well as all the toilet paper in the house. That was an expensive year! Kim's cat actually did eat her homework while she was in college. When he was four, he stopped eating paper and starting carrying folded blankets around on the floor. Kim hasn't a clue why, but I can imagine it would be quite hilarious to see a little cat drag a large blanket with all his might. We are told these are all these things are things Mistah Moe usually does in the winter while they wait for the snow to melt. Kim and Moe live in a town where there is an extremely large amount of snow on the ground from November to May. Usually, Moe and his brother Balou entertain one another all winter and are patient to wait for the warm ground and grass. Moe however has gone outside almost every day just like it was summer time and actually seems to like the snow, which is why Kim had to take this wonderful picture of him. What an adventurous little kitty! When Moe is not outside whether it is playing in the snow, or catching mice and moles, he enjoys sleeping in Kim's bed and is just a little bit warmer with him under the covers. He also loves to sleep on his back with his legs sprawled out, usually next to the fireplace. Whatever he is doing, Mistah Moe is entertaining Kim with his strange and ever changing habits. But Kim will say, Mistah Moe can't wait for the snow to melt. Summer, here Moe come! Voted "Cat of the Month" by Web Poll Participants ![]() Owner: Jenny Moylan Cat's Name: Shiloh and Gypsy Breed: Shiloh - Rag Doll, Gypsy - DLH Age: Shiloh - 2 years, Gypsy - 4 months About the Winner: These two beautiful kitties are so cute together. Gypsy, the light orange kitty, loves playing with a rattle ball with feathers on it and will skid along the slippery wood floors after her favorite ball. Shiloh is a Rag Doll cat and loves to play with small toy mice throwing them up in the air with delight! Jenny, Shiloh & Gypsy's human mom, tells us they are quite a funny pair. They have had Shiloh for the past 2 years and thought he was getting lonely without a feline companion, so they adopted Gypsy!! She is now 5 months old and a bounding ball of fluff!! Shiloh loves playing “pawsies” under our doors and loves to play hide and go seek in the kitty's cubby house. Gypsy will fly into the kitty cubby and Shiloh will sit outside and guard it and then will poke his little paw under the lid, until Gypsy's paw grabs his. Gypsy loves to scoot her feathered ball around the hallway, and will fly up and down the hall with it in her mouth. Gypsy also loves watching TV, where Shiloh loves nothing better than to get rides on a mat through out the house. |
