The Indoor Cat.

- Cats living exclusively indoors have a sedentary lifestyle and may take limited exercise (with a higher risk of obesity) than those having access to the outside.  That is why they have lower energy requirements.
- The lifestyle of the indoor cat sheltered from temperature variations and changes in day length, disrupts the natural seasonal cycle of fur growth, so that it moults or sheds almost continuously.  This aggravates the problem of swallowing hair during grooming and this hair has to be eliminated to prevent formation of hairballs.
