Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was a major 20th century American artist and an international celebrity. He is probably best know as the founder and major figure of the Pop Art movement. Incorporating familiar images from popular culture and techniques of sign painting, commercial art and illustration, Warhol erased the boundaries between fine art and everyday life. Many of his Pop Art images are instantly recognizable and as popular today as when he first created them.
